What should I know about installing a Defender storm shelter?

Great question. Installing your Defender is typically quick and straightforward, but there are a few site requirements to make sure everything goes smoothly.

Here’s what to keep in mind:

We need at least 10 feet of horizontal clearance to access the install location (more if there are sharp turns).
Our knuckle boom truck requires about 14 feet of vertical clearance.
Most cities require shelters to be installed at least 5 feet from property lines (we recommend verifying local guidelines).
Shelters should not be placed over underground utilities, beneath overhead utility lines, or in low areas prone to flooding.
Choose a location that allows quick and easy access during severe weather.
If a building permit is required in your area, the homeowner is responsible for obtaining it.
